ONANCOCK HARBORFEST
SEPTEMBER
5th AND 6th

The event we’ve all been looking forward to is coming soon!! No big city celebrations for us, but Onancock’s very own Harborfest, including the old favorites – Great Big Paper Boat Race; Hospice’s Rubber Duck Race; arcade and other kid games and rides; rock climbing wall; lots of yummy food; musical entertainment; plus lots more. Of course, we’ll also kick Saturday off with the ever important American Heart Association 5K Run/Walk.
For the youngsters, we’ve a pirate
scavenger hunt, a kids’ craft tent, face painting, critter parade,
moonwalk and
more. For the oldsters (and the
middle-sters), we have a horseshoe tournament, kayak/canoe races,
antique/classic car and corvette show, an exciting martial arts
demonstration
by Elton Trower and students, as well as an arm wrestling competition. If none of these events tickle your fancy,
how about just sitting with a cold one, sampling one of a huge variety
of
unique and tasty dishes, and watching the folks?
Music this year will be a treat for all
tastes. Once again, we’ve the Tidewater
Pipes and Drums, DJ Chuck D, and MAX 92.5 FM Remote Broadcast. Put the tired-out kiddies to bed and dance
the night away on Friday night with the “Almost Famous” Band, Saturday
afternoon with Slakbone and Saturday night with Night Hawk. For an added evening bonus, don’t miss the
Boat Bash – featuring beautifully illuminated boats in our very own
harbor.
As always, we’ll have a unique array of
food vendors to spark your taste buds.
Plenty of newly designed Onancock Harborfest T-shirts will be on
sale. Of course, we’ll also have the
2007 Onancock Harborfest posters on sale for $15.00.
An exclusive array of distinctive sculptures,
carvings and other works of art, including winning posters, will be up
for
auction on Saturday afternoon. We’ll
also have numerous items to be raffled off.
Don’t forget to show off your baking skills at our annual
Bake-Off!
